The school community is made up of pupils, teachers, parents and other workers all of whom strive to create a safe and a happy atmosphere where children can achieve their potential.
The school belongs to us all, and you as parents are welcome to call the office by phone or make an appointment with a teacher. The journey from first class to sixth class is more than just an academic one and we look forward to working with you to equip your child with the skills he or she will need for the transition to secondary school.

School Opening Hours:
School opens at 9.00a.m. Pupils are expected to attend school punctually. Although often times it is factors outside their own control that causes children to be late it is important that they are encouraged to be punctual. If children continue to be late the principal will ring parents or organise a meeting with them. Children have access to the school from 8.45a.m and children are supervised until class begins at 9a.m. Children finish school and exit at 2:40pm.
Access to Classrooms:
For 1st class pupils, the first week in their new school can be quite daunting and overwhelming. For this week, you may wish to accompany your child to their classroom door. In an effort to develop confidence and independence, we kindly ask that you child walks from the school door to the classroom door by themselves thereafter.
Contacting you childs Teacher:
From time to time you may have concerns about your child that you need to discuss with their class teacher. Teachers are very busy in the morning for the day ahead. Should you need to speak to your childs teacher, please make an appointment through the office 022-42211. Formal parent teacher meetings usually take place in November.
Collecting Children for an Appointment:
In the event that you need to collect your child for an appointment during school hours, please call to the office, where our Secretary will direct you to your child’s classroom. Children will need to be signed out upon departure stating time and reason.
Communication from our School:
We use a variety of media for communicating with parents including letters & notes, Text-a-Parent, Facebook and our school website.
Please ensure that the office has correct contact details for you including email & contact mobile phone number.
Please inform the office if you have recently moved house or have a new phone number.
Book Rental Scheme:
A Book Rental Scheme is available in The Convent Primary School.
This scheme begins in May/June for the upcoming school year in September.

Mobile Phones are not allowed in The Convent Primary School.
Teachers/Secretary will contact parents on behalf of children should it be necessary during the school day.
Homework Journals – Check/Sign:
Homework journals are used not only for children to note their homework but also as a communication diary between parents and teachers.
